This is a needle safety device for pre-filled syringes, designed for pharma companies that have expensive filling lines set up for glass pre-filled syringes but now, after 5–10 years, wish to incorporate a needle safety mechanism.
It is a three-part device — including the spring — plus the pre-filled syringe. A newly filled syringe straight out of the filling line can be easily assembled with it. After the dose is complete a sleeve comes out at the bottom, as shown in the images. That acts as the needle safety.
